Los Angeles County residents can utilize public transit systems across the region without paying any fares today to help ensure all eligible voters reach their designated polling places. LA Metro officials announced that the comprehensive zero-fare policy covers all municipal bus routes, heavy rail lines, light rail services, and transit connectors operating throughout the county.

Alongside the temporary fare suspension, the transportation agency installed secure ballot drop boxes at key rail stations and high-traffic bus hubs across the metropolitan area. Voters have the option to deposit their completed mail-in ballots directly into these designated containers during regular operating hours, allowing them to complete their civic duties while managing their daily commutes.

Transit authorities said that the accessibility initiative aims to eliminate financial and logistical hurdles for residents participating in today local and state elections. Public transportation advocates and city officials said that removing fare barriers historically helps increase mobility for working-class riders and students heading to cast their ballots.

The agency has successfully implemented similar access programs during past major election cycles to encourage higher voter participation across diverse neighborhoods and communities throughout the county. Additional customer service staff members and security personnel are deployed at major rail and bus hubs to assist passengers using the transit system today.

Regular fare collection and standard operating schedules will resume across all transit routes at the start of service tomorrow morning. Local commuters and daily riders are advised to check official agency announcements and digital schedules online before planning their evening trips home.
